Tutor Certificate
“Awesome! I loved the interactivity, energy and specificity.”
-Tutor, Marshall School Program
The tutor certificate is a four hour training course that is
mandatory for new volunteers in PBHA tutoring programs, and strongly recommended for new PSN tutoring program volunteers. Volunteers need only attend the training once during their time in college.
The training covers:
¶ The Asset Based Approach to Positive Youth Development
¶ Tools for Tutoring (Metacognition and Scaffolding)
¶ The Cooperative Discipline Approach to Behavior Management
¶ Safety and Boundaries
Ideally, volunteers attend the Tutor Certificate together during a timeslot reserved for their program, but individuals are also welcome to register.
